Last week again we were interrupted by vehicle problems. I believe this has partly to do with the previous accident. Because it is again on the same side. But nevertheless the ball joint slipped out and brought the vehicle to a sudden stop. Being very fortunate that it didn’t happen at great speed.
This happened way out in the country where there were no repairs available. Rene had a 2 ½ hour walk back to their last village where he managed to find a welding facility. Well that enabled him to get a ring welded around the ball so that they could reassemble it to slowly drive to Sucre.
We considered getting a tow truck but that would have cost $500.00 US. Anyway they made it to Sucre only to find out that there was no way to have it repaired there. So they took it apart again to weld it more firmly so that they could drive to Cochabamba. which was about a 600 km. at a slow pace.
The vehicle is now in Cochabamba under the direction of the insurance. I anticipate the repair bill will be around $1,000.00 US. But if the insurance pays it will only be $100.00 deductible.
I think Rene and Jairo did an excellent job in being able to get it repaired enough to drive the vehicle all the way to Cochabamba.
Thank you so very much for your continued support prayerfully and financially.
As you well know this could have happened on a sharp turn and a deep drop off.
Your prayers are not in vain.
Gus on behalf of the Board, Rene and Jairo.
