I’ve had a really good two weeks distributing material to the public schools. In the last two weeks, I’ve visited 75 schools and colleges, and distributed 40,000 pamphlets to students and teachers.
We go from classroom to classroom, and we have to be careful we don’t distribute while students are out on recess, because they are so eager to receive it that we could get overrun, unless the teachers line them all up in files.
Most of the schools all run one class in the morning and one in the afternoon. In other words when a school has 500 students in the morning, it will have another 500 in the afternoon.
It is incredible to see the young population be so huge. But then most families have 6-8 children, and a lot of young girls have at least one child.
I can carry enough material that when I go out on Monday I stay away for the whole week, and come back for the weekend.
I don’t get to stay in fancy hotels, and have bought a mosquito net to hang over me for the night. Last week the town I stayed in had some problems so the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. I had just checked the internet and went back to my room, but not without tears. That is powerful stuff!
I don’t really know Spanish well enough to do this on my own, so I get lined up with pastors in the community to help me out.
The schools are predominantly Catholic, but very receptive to the material. Many of the schools are begging for Bibles, and for that reason would be good to work with the Gideons as well, which I hope to do.
Please pray that material will keep coming in. And that God will keep the door open for the Word of God to be distributed to the next generation.
In Christ, Gus.
